So, Chris was noble, and led a trip to the Paint and Menominee.

I was selfish. I headed south. 11 hours to Elkhorn City, KY. And why,
you ask? For the first week of fall releases on the Russell Fork. What
a great weekend!

Let's see what was so great:

-11 hour drive! this is hardly anything. We got 5 hours of sleep
Saturday morning, AND I was home before midnight on Sunday.

-Alice Cooper! A couple working at the local newspaper gave us free
tickets to a concert 20 minutes from our campsite. Alice Cooper for
free? Yes Please. The show was great, and as full of cheese as you
could wish for.

-The River! What a phemonenal run. Certainly deservedly one of the
classics. It's just less than 4 miles long, has a mile or so of warm up
and cool down on either end (class II-IV), and still packs in 5-6 class
IV+ and V drops in the middle. Big holes, big undercuts, big moves, big
fun.

Can't wait to get back there.

Cheers,
Erik
