Hey All,

Even though the weather is not conducive for grilling some tasty treats,
TONIGHT'S SOCIAL IS STILL ON! There will still be food! Meet at 6:30pm in
the Chartroom. We'll wander from the Chartroom to the Boathouse, depending
on the weather, and depending on how many warm layers people wear.
Also, the cost per person to attends is down from $4 to only $2!

*The Pork Story: Abridged.*

So, what the heck's for dinner? Again, in his infinite wisdom, Doug
suggested we make pulled pork sandwiches. Brilliant!

So, I scoured the Internet (okay, so I did a quick Google search over a cup
of coffee), and found a tasty spicy pulled pork recipe. Then, I visited
Copp's, and what do you know, they had a fantastic sale on pork! Hurrah!

But, a problem arose. I have a teeny-tiny oven. I now had 10 pounds of
pork in my car. Mmm. With a quick phone call, I was over at Patsy's house,
commandeering her huge oven. But I needed reinforcements. Patsy and I
couldn't cook alone. Another quick call, and Andrea arrived! So,
after adding rub to 10 pounds of meat, and cooking it for about 4 hours, the
meat still wasn't done. Drat. So, Patsy and Andrea donated their
two slow cookers. We piled the meat in the cookers, and then into my car
trunk, and I drove home. I let the meat simmer for a good 10 hours, and
holy smokes, it's fantastic now! I mean... not that I've sampled it, or
anything... bah ha ha.

*The Vegetarian story: Really Abridged*

For the vegetarian option: we've made vegetarian sloppy joes. Andrea has
also made a huge pasta salad.

*The "Others" Story: Random thoughts. *
**
I've also ordered 30 Kaiser rolls fresh from the Copp's deli.

And we have 2 bags of potato chips.
And about 4 2-liter bottles of soda.
And cantaloupe, and "fluff fruit dip".
And anything else you want to bring!

*The Stats: A Brief Glimpse*
**
About 20 people have signed up.
I bought 10 pounds of pork, so at about 0.3 pounds pork per sandwich, and
assuming one sandwich per person, there is enough for 30 people!
And there is enough sloppy joes for about 5 vegetarians.

The point is... there is still room for just a few more people to join us
tonight! Please email me if you would like to come!

The End.

Jenny
