I'm announcing a canoe lake lesson for this Tuesday (September 26) from
4:30 PM to 6:15. This is the introductory lesson to canoeing in the
Outing club and will give
you the required rating to go on club canoe trips (i.e. Fall Colors) and
use club boats on Lake Mendota. I will be limiting the class size to 12
people. Meet at the triangular pier next to the Memorial Union
boathouse. Please sign up by e-mail (walker2 at wisc.edu).
For this lesson, there are several things you should bring with you:
1) your membership card for me to sign after the lesson
2) clothes and shoes that can get wet. Just in case.
3) a dry change of clothes and a towel in case you end up swimming in the
lake
4) water and sunscreen
For more information about the canoe lake lesson, check out the link on the
Outing club website in the instruction section. Here is the direct

If you are taking the swim test after the lesson, you will need to wear
a long-sleeved shirt and long pants (jeans suck but rain/wind gear works
well) and foot wear that will not fall off while in the water. For
information about the swim test, check out the link on the Outing club
website in the "for all paddlers" section. Here is the direct link:
