[OUTING-ANNOUNCE] I'm Running for President!!!!

Hey Hoofer Outing Club!!

Dear countrymen and comrades,

  As the flames of old fade away into the night, new flames must burn
bright and replace them. So as we bid ado to Patrick and the work he
has done for the club, new leaders must come forth and continue the
hoofer traditions of leadership, education, involvement and fun. For
no organization will be successful unless it is enjoyable for its
members. Coming in as an unexperienced member of the outdoor world as
a lowly undergraduate peasant three years ago, I had never been
camping in my life. By now, I have tried, if not became addicted to
all that the club has to offer.Its been a healthy alternative to the
typical, unhealthy pitfall of many college students....homework. The
flame of hoofers (made by a bow drill) has been an integral part of my
college career. I want, no, I need to give back to the club that has
given so much to me. Not only has it given me amazing memories like
"the sleeping bag incident" (during the fall colors canoe trip) or the
"wheel fell off incident" (during spring break backpacking) but some
really good friends and experiences too.

This past year I have been involved on the executive board as the
membership chair and member of the involvement committee. I am also a
UW Housing Housefellow (RA). Through these positions I have developed
the leadership qualities to guide hoofer outing through another year.
With an upbeat and enthusiastic demeanor, I'll be a very approachable
representative within hoofer council and the community. I will make
decisions that adhere to the core values of the club and its members.

I am a WRITE IN CANDIDATE so if you don't see my name on the ballot,
just write it on there! But most importantly....VOTE. Exercise your
right and vote. You can vote at the outdoor programs office Monday and
Tuesday (9am to 5pm) or you can EMAIL your vote to our secretary,

PS. the reason I had to withdraw my nomination in the first place was
because I was waiting to hear about a job that I applied for. I ended
up not getting the job so now I will have the time needed to devote to
the presidency to make a great year!
