Maunesha River Cleanup with Capitol Water Trails
Date and time: Sunday, April 29, 2007 9:00 AM - Sunday, April 22, 2007 2:00 PM
Location: Maunesha River (about 20 miles east of Madison), meet at Park Street Circle
Contact: Nathan
Description: I'll be leading a collaborative trip with Capitol Water Trails to do stream cleanup and brush clearing on the Maunesha River, east of Madison. The Maunesha is a small, but relatively deep stream near Marshall, WI. Although surrounded by agricultural lands, it's managed to stay easily paddleable. We'll meet at Park Street Circle, head east to the Maunesha, and put in canoes for an afternoon of picking up trash, cutting ovehanging branches that interfere with paddling and enjoying the peaceful scenery of a small river in spring.

No canoe rating is necessary as long as we have enough canoe-rated paddlers to put one in each boat. Also, this trip will be open to Hoofers and non-Hoofers alike, so feel free to invite your friends! Although it is early in the year and the water will be cold, the Maunesha rarely gets wider than 10 feet or deeper than 5 feet. All the same, it will be a good opportunity for an early season paddle and a chance to contribute to the continued vitality of this river. Trip cost will be a few dollars to help pay for gas and possibly lunch afterward.
